What is South Carolina Pick 3 Game?

Pick 3 is a three-digit number game offered by the South Carolina Education Lottery (SCEL). This game provides players with various ways to win, whether they choose to match numbers in the exact order drawn or in any order.

Drawings for Pick 3 are held twice daily:

• Evening Drawings: Held every evening at 6:59 PM, aired live on local television stations.

• Midday Drawings: Held Monday through Saturday at 12:59 PM (not televised).No midday drawings occur on Sundays or Christmas Day.

Players have multiple play styles to choose from, including Straight, Box, Straight/Box, Combo, and Pairs. Each play costs $0.50 or $1, depending on the selected options.

Enhance Your Play with FIREBALL

Adding the FIREBALL feature to your Pick 3 ticket provides additional chances to win! With FIREBALL:

• One FIREBALL number is drawn (from 0 to 9) after each Pick 3 drawing.

• Players can replace one of the winning numbers drawn with the FIREBALL number, creating additional prize-winning combinations.

• FIREBALL prizes are added to any base game wins.

To include FIREBALL, simply mark the "ADD FIREBALL" option on your play slip. Please note that adding FIREBALL doubles the cost of each play.

How to Play Pick 3

Playing Pick 3 is simple, and the game offers plenty of customization to suit every player’s preference. Follow these steps to play:

1. Pick Your Numbers

Select a two-digit number (00 to 99) or a three-digit number (000 to 999) on the play slip. Each play panel (labeled PLAY A – PLAY E) represents one play.

2. Use Quick Pick (Optional)

If you prefer to have the terminal select your numbers randomly, check the “QUICK PICK” box. You can use Quick Pick for all or some of your selected plays.

3. Choose Your Play Amount

Select the play amount:

• $0.50 per play

• $1 per play

For Combo tickets, prices vary depending on the play type:

• 3-way Combo: $1.50 or $3

• 6-way Combo: $3 or $6

4. Select Your Play Type

Choose one of the following play types to determine how you want to match the winning numbers:

Straight Play (STR)

• Match all three numbers in the exact order drawn.

• Example: Your ticket is 123, and the winning number is 123.

Box Play (BOX)

• Match all three numbers in any order.

• Two options for Box Play:

  • 3-Way Box: Select a number with two identical digits (e.g., 112). There are three possible winning combinations: 112, 121, 211.

  • 6-Way Box: Select a number with three unique digits (e.g., 123). There are six possible winning combinations: 123, 132, 213, 231, 312, 321.

Straight/Box (STR/BX)

• Combine a $0.50 Straight and a $0.50 Box play for a single three-digit number.

• Example: If you select 123, you win if the numbers are drawn exactly as 123 (Straight) or in any order (Box).

Combo (COMBO)

• Equal to 3 or 6 Straight plays depending on your number selection.

• Prices:

  • 3-Way Combo: $1.50 or $3

  • 6-Way Combo: $3 or $6

• Win if your numbers match the winning numbers in any order.

Pairs (Front Pair or Back Pair)

• Pick two numbers and specify their position:

  • Front Pair: Match the first two numbers in exact order.

  • Back Pair: Match the last two numbers in exact order.

5. Add FIREBALL (Optional)

Enhance your play with the FIREBALL option by marking the “ADD FIREBALL” circle on the play slip.

• After each drawing, one FIREBALL number (0 to 9) is drawn.

• Replace any one of the drawn Pick 3 numbers with the FIREBALL number to create winning combinations.

• FIREBALL prizes are paid in addition to any base game winnings.

• Adding FIREBALL doubles the cost of each play.

6. Select Your Draw Time

Choose the drawing time(s) for your play:

• Day Draw (12:59 PM)

• Evening Draw (6:59 PM)

• Both Draws

If no draw time is selected, the ticket will be valid for the next available drawing.

7. Play Multi-Draws

Want to play the same numbers for multiple consecutive drawings? Select the Multi-Draw option:

• Up to 14 draws for Day or Evening drawings.

• Up to 28 draws for both Day and Evening drawings.

8. Advanced Plays

You can select a draw day other than today by using the Advanced Play option.

9. Sign and Secure Your Ticket

Upon purchase, SIGN the back of your ticket to ensure it’s secure. Double-check your play slip to verify all details before completing the purchase.

If there’s an error on your ticket:

• Notify the retailer immediately to cancel the ticket and print a new one.

• Tickets can only be canceled within specific timeframes.

Important:

• DO NOT ERASE errors on the play slip. Use the “VOID” box next to the mistake to make corrections.

• Players must be at least 18 years of age to play.

Draw Times and Ticket Sales Suspension

• Pick 3 sales are suspended briefly before each drawing:

  • 12:45 PM (Monday–Saturday for midday draws).

  • 6:45 PM (daily for evening draws).

• After purchasing a ticket, you have up to 20 minutes to cancel the sale—unless the drawing sales suspension has begun.
