Two Tickets Share Jersey Cash 5 Top Prize in New Jersey

Two Jersey Cash 5 tickets matched all five numbers in the September 8 drawing, with one sold through the Jackpocket app and the other at a Plainfield retailer.

Two Jersey Cash 5 tickets matched all five winning numbers in the September 8 drawing, sending the top prize to players who bought tickets through two different channels: the Jackpocket app and a Plainfield retailer.

The New Jersey Lottery said the two players split the drawing's jackpot after both tickets matched the full five-number combination. One ticket was sold through the Jackpocket app, while the other was sold at Quick Chek #196 at 475 Terrill Road in Plainfield, Union County.

The Lottery's announcement contains two different figures for the total jackpot. Its release body lists the prize as $449,453, while the release headline identifies it as $449,456.

The listed value of the individual winning tickets points to the higher figure. Each ticket is valued at $224,728, and the two ticket values add up to $449,456. The New Jersey Lottery did not use the same total in the body of its announcement, leaving a $3 difference between the two published jackpot amounts.

The numbers drawn for the Jersey Cash 5 jackpot were 01, 15, 17, 29 and 30. The Bullseye number for the drawing was 30, matching one of the five numbers in the winning combination.

The drawing's XTRA number was 03. That number applied to tickets that included the XTRA option and won an eligible secondary prize in the same drawing.

Quick Chek #196 and Jackpocket will each receive a $2,000 bonus for selling a jackpot-winning ticket, the New Jersey Lottery said. The bonus applies to both locations connected to the two tickets that shared the top prize.

The drawing also created 30 secondary-prize winners. Those players matched four of the five winning numbers and the Bullseye number, earning $500 apiece.

Nine of the $500 secondary-prize winners had played XTRA. Their prizes were tripled to $1,500 each, rather than remaining at the $500 base amount.

After the two top-prize tickets were identified, the Jersey Cash 5 jackpot reset to $150,000 for the following Wednesday drawing. Current draw information is available through the latest New Jersey lottery results.
