Michigan Lottery Guidance Lists $999.99 Limit for Retailer Prize Claims

Current Michigan Lottery help guidance lists a $999.99 retailer limit for in-store prizes, but a separate official FAQ still shows the older $600 threshold.

Michigan Lottery retailers may redeem in-store winning tickets worth up to $999.99 under the lottery’s current prize-claim guidance, while a separate official FAQ still lists a lower $600 threshold.

The current Michigan Lottery help page says prizes of $999.99 or less for tickets purchased in-store can be claimed at any Michigan Lottery retailer. The page was published or modified on August 24, 2026, the date associated with the current guidance.

Retailers are not required by the Michigan Lottery or state law to redeem prizes. A retailer may also be unable to pay a winning ticket because of its cash-availability policies, so the current guidance does not guarantee that every retailer will complete a claim.

Players with in-store prizes of $99,999.99 or less have other claim options. The Michigan Lottery says those prizes can be claimed by appointment at a Michigan Lottery Claim Center or by mail.

The lottery’s online-prize guidance uses the same $999.99 amount for a different process. Online prizes of $999.99 or less are deposited directly into a player’s Michigan Lottery account. Online prizes greater than $999.99 and up to $99,999.99 require an online claim.

A separate Michigan Lottery FAQ still says that retailer claims are limited to prizes of $600 or less. That page directs players with prizes from $601 through $99,999.99 to a regional office or designated claim center.

The two official pages do not explain when the $999.99 retailer guidance took effect or explicitly describe it as an increase from $600. The conflicting thresholds leave the agency’s formal policy history unresolved, although the current help page directly lists the higher limit for in-store tickets.
