Lexington player wins second $100,000 Ruby Red 7’s prize
A Davidson County player bought the latest winning ticket at a Winston-Salem grocery store and plans a beach vacation while continuing to help her grandchildren.
A Lexington player has claimed a $100,000 prize on the same North Carolina scratch-off game that awarded her a $100,000 prize in August 2025. The second top-prize win came on Ruby Red 7’s, making the Davidson County player a repeat $100,000 winner on the game.
The latest winning ticket cost $20. The player bought it while grocery shopping at the Food Lion on North N.C. Highway 150 in Winston-Salem.
The North Carolina Education Lottery said the player claimed the prize at lottery headquarters on Monday, September 21, 2026. The claim date places the second prize less than two months after the first win’s anniversary in August 2025, although the official information does not give the exact date of the earlier claim.
After state and federal tax withholdings, the player received $72,016 from the latest prize. The amount reflects the money paid after withholdings from the $100,000 prize.
The earlier $100,000 win also came from Ruby Red 7’s. For that prize, the player bought the winning ticket at the Sheetz on Peters Creek Parkway in Winston-Salem.
The player received $71,756 after tax withholdings from the 2025 win. The two post-withholding amounts were different even though both prizes had a stated value of $100,000.
The earlier winnings were intended to help the player’s four grandchildren. The new winnings will be used in part for a beach vacation with her husband, while also providing some help to her grandchildren.
The repeat win followed the launch of Ruby Red 7’s in August 2025. The game debuted with nine $100,000 prizes.
One $100,000 Ruby Red 7’s prize remained unclaimed as of September 24, 2026. That figure describes the number of top prizes still outstanding in the game at that point, rather than the amount of the newly claimed prize.
The two winning tickets were purchased at different Winston-Salem stores. The ticket for the first prize came from a Sheetz on Peters Creek Parkway, while the ticket for the second prize came from a Food Lion on North N.C. Highway 150.
The player’s home community is Lexington, and the lottery identifies the event as a Davidson County win. Davidson County received more than $9.6 million in lottery funding for educational programs during the prior year.
