Arizona and Colorado lotteries promote responsible play during September observance

The Arizona and Colorado lotteries are promoting time and budget limits, healthy-play tools, community outreach and support resources during September’s observance.

Arizona and Colorado are using September 2026’s Responsible Gaming Education Month to promote responsible-play education, spending limits, healthy-play tools and support resources.

Arizona marked the start of the month on September 1 through a joint effort by the Arizona Lottery and the Arizona Department of Gaming. The state also launched the Responsible Play for a Stronger Arizona digital marketing campaign on the same day.

The Arizona campaign urges players to set limits on the amount of time and money they spend. It also encourages people to view gambling as entertainment rather than as a way to make money and to take regular breaks.

The awareness effort is running across digital, streaming, social media, print, television and radio advertising. The materials are available in English and Spanish, expanding the campaign’s reach across the state.

Arizona is also encouraging cities and towns to adopt their own Responsible Gaming Education Month proclamations. The effort calls for related responsible-gaming resources to be made more accessible in local communities.

The Arizona Lottery says those resources include a 24/7 helpline, treatment counseling, financial counseling and voluntary self-exclusion. These services are part of the support information promoted during the month.

Colorado is taking part throughout September with the Colorado Division of Gaming and other responsible-gaming partners. The Colorado Lottery’s program includes healthy-play events, online content and player discussions focused on knowing personal limits and taking breaks.

Colorado players can use the Positive Play Quiz through the Colorado Lottery’s Know Your Limits webpage. The quiz is one of the tools the lottery is making available as part of its player-education activities.

The Colorado Lottery also scheduled a healthy-play activity at the Colorado State Fair in Pueblo for September 3, 2026. The event is planned to include activities and prizes tied to the month’s responsible-play message.

The Colorado Lottery describes Responsible Gaming Education Month as part of monthlong national campaigns promoting gambling literacy, consumer education and independent research across regulated gambling industries. The September activities in both states place practical guidance and support information at the center of the observance.
