Alabama couple wins $150,000 Powerball prize after Kentucky travel stop
A travel stop in Franklin, Kentucky, gave an Alabama couple a $50,000 Powerball win that rose to $150,000 with Power Play.
A family road trip from Alabama to Kentucky took an unexpected turn when a restroom stop in Franklin produced a $150,000 Powerball prize for Theresa and James Stuckey of Enterprise, Alabama.
Theresa bought the ticket at Pilot Travel Center #438 while the couple was traveling to Kentucky to pick up their son, who had spent the summer with relatives in Ohio. She purchased the ticket for the August 1, 2026, Powerball drawing and added the Power Play option.
The ticket matched the $50,000 prize tier. Power Play tripled that prize to $150,000, turning the routine travel stop into a major win for the Stuckeys.
The couple returned to Kentucky the following day to claim the prize. After taxes, they received $108,750.
The family planned to use the winnings to pay off vehicles, help their daughter with college and take a vacation. Pilot Travel Center #438 will receive $1,500 for selling the winning ticket.
