Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about Florida lottery games and results

Playing the Florida Lottery is simple and fun. Follow these steps to get started:

  1. Choose a Game
The Florida Lottery offers a variety of games, including popular draw games like Powerball, Mega Millions, Florida Lotto, Cash4Life, Fantasy 5, and daily draw games such as Pick 2, Pick 3, Pick 4, and Pick 5. You can also try instant scratch-off tickets available at authorized retailers.

  2. Pick Your Numbers
For draw games, select your numbers on a playslip or ask for a Quick Pick to have them randomly chosen by the terminal. * The number of digits you choose depends on the game (for example, 6 numbers for Florida Lotto or 5 + 1 Powerball number).

  3. Decide How Many Draws to Play
You can purchase a ticket for a single drawing or play the same numbers for multiple consecutive draws by marking the “Advance Play” option.

  4. Add Extra Options (Optional)
Some games offer add-on features like Power Play, Double Play, or EZmatch for an additional cost, giving you extra ways to win.

  5. Buy Your Ticket
Purchase your ticket at any authorized Florida Lottery retailer or self-service terminal. Make sure to check that your ticket is printed correctly before leaving the counter.

  6. Check the Drawing Schedule
Drawings are held on different days and times depending on the game. Make sure to know when the drawing for your chosen game occurs.

  7. Check the Results
After the drawing, check the winning numbers on the official Florida Lottery website, through the Florida Lottery mobile app, at LotteryCoast.com, or at a local retailer.

  8. Claim Your Prize

    • Small prizes can usually be claimed at any retailer.
    • Larger prizes must be claimed at a Florida Lottery district office or headquarters.
    • Keep your ticket safe, as it is required to claim any winnings.

Tip: Always sign the back of your ticket as soon as you buy it to protect your claim.

If you’re looking for the Florida lottery game with the best odds of winning a prize, daily draw games generally offer better chances than large multi-state jackpots. Among Florida’s popular games:

  • Florida Pick 2 – Offers some of the best odds, with a chance of 1 in 100 to win the top prize.
  • Florida Pick 3 – Also features favorable odds compared to bigger jackpot games, with top-prize odds of 1 in 1,000.
  • Florida Pick 4 – Has odds of 1 in 10,000 for the top prize, still much better than multi-million-dollar jackpot games.
  • Florida Lotto and Powerball offer huge jackpots but come with much longer odds—1 in 22.9 million for Florida Lotto and 1 in 292 million for Powerball.

For players who prioritize frequent wins over massive jackpots, Florida Pick 2 and Pick 3 have the best odds of winning.

No — Florida lottery winners cannot remain fully anonymous. Under Florida law, certain information about winners must be made public.

What information is public?

The following details are subject to public disclosure:

  • Winner’s full name
  • City of residence
  • The lottery game won
  • The date won & amount won
  • Name and location of the retailer that sold the winning ticket

However, the winner’s home address and telephone number are kept confidential and not released to the public.

Is there a temporary privacy option?

Yes. Since May 25, 2022, winners who win $250,000 or more can delay the public disclosure of their identity for up to 90 days after claiming the prize. After those 90 days, the required public disclosures become effective unless the winner has waived that delay.

Can a winner use a trust, LLC, or other entity to protect identity?

Yes — although the law mandates disclosure of certain information, winners often use legal entities (like trusts or LLCs) to claim the prize. This can help provide an extra layer of privacy or control.

But using a legal entity doesn’t fully override disclosure requirements: the entity’s name, and possibly the name of its trustee, may still be part of the public record.

Currently, the Florida Lottery does not offer online ticket sales. Tickets must be purchased in person from authorized retailers.

Players have 180 days from the draw date to claim their prize, but only 60 days if they choose a lump sum payout.
