Find answers to common questions about Ohio lottery games and results
The Ohio Lottery itself does not currently sell standard draw-game tickets (like Powerball, Mega Millions, Lucky for Life, or Rolling Cash 5) directly through its website or mobile app. The official Ohio Lottery app lets you check winning numbers, scan paper tickets, and redeem MyLotto Rewards® points for digital games and prizes, but it is not an online ticket-sales platform.
If you want to order tickets from your phone or computer, you can use a licensed third-party lottery courier service such as Jackpot.com, which launched in Ohio in 2023. Here’s how it works:
⚠️ The Ohio Lottery does not endorse or guarantee any courier services. Use them at your own discretion and always check their terms, fees, and prize-claim policies.
Note: To play online you must be at least 18 years old and physically located in Ohio at the time of purchase.
It depends on whether you’re looking for the best chance of winning any prize or the best chance at a jackpot.
For the best chance of winning any prize:
Lucky for Life offers the most favorable odds among Ohio’s draw games — about 1 in 8 to win something.
For the best jackpot odds:
Rolling Cash 5 has the most favorable jackpot odds among Ohio’s main draw games — about 1 in 575,757 for the top prize, which is much better than the odds for multi-state games like Powerball or Mega Millions.
Scratch-off games:
Odds vary by ticket. Higher-priced scratch-offs often have better overall odds (for example, some are around 1 in 3.9 or 1 in 4.5 to win any prize), but always check the specific game’s odds on the ticket.
Quick tip: If you want the best chance to win anything at all, go with Lucky for Life. If you’re aiming for a jackpot with more reasonable odds than the multi-state lotteries, Rolling Cash 5 is your best bet.
In Ohio, winners can stay private — but only if they claim the prize through a trust instead of using their own name. The Ohio Lottery must release the name of whoever officially claims the prize. If you create a legally recognized trust (often called a blind trust) and name a trustee to collect the money, only the trustee’s name is made public. Your own identity can stay confidential.
You’ll need to set up the trust before you claim the prize and file your claim within 180 days of the drawing. Most large prizes claimed this way are handled at the Ohio Lottery’s regional office in Cleveland.
Keep in mind that even if you claim through a trust, you still have to pay all required taxes. For specific legal steps, it’s best to talk to an attorney who has experience with lottery trusts.
