NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police are searching for two thieves who stole thousands of dollars worth of lottery tickets in two robberies across New York City in recent weeks. The first robbery took place at a Manhattan business located at 46 Eighth Ave. in the West Village. At about 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 26, the suspects entered the establishment and simulated a gun before snatching $2,100 worth of lottery tickets. Not even two weeks later, at 8:20 p.m. on Jan. 8, the duo went into a business at 31-02 Broadway in Astoria with a gun. They over doubled the worth of lottery tickets grabbed, leaving with $4,800 in value. In both incidents they fled the scene on foot. There were no injuries reported in either robbery. The men robbed a business in the West Village and Astoria on Dec. 26 and Jan. 8, respectively. Police released surveillance photos and video early Sunday morning of the suspects jumping a turnstile in the Broadway subway station after the Jan. 8 robbery. In the footage, one of the suspects is seen carrying a case full of scratch-offs and other lottery tickets. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
