South Carolina woman enjoys $198,217 Cash 5 jackpot win

Patricia Martin of Lancaster, S.C., took a chance on a $1 Cash 5 ticket and won a $198,217 jackpot. Martin bought her lucky Quick Pick ticket from B&M Food Service on Lancaster Highway in Pineville. Her ticket matched all five numbers in the Sept. 9 drawing to win the jackpot. The odds of matching numbers on all five balls are 1 in 962,598. She claimed her prize at lottery headquarters Friday and, after required federal and state tax withholdings, took home $141,725. Cash 5 is one of six lottery games in North Carolina where players have the option of buying their tickets at a retail location or with Online Play through the lottery’s website or with the NC Lottery Official Mobile App. Monday’s jackpot is $100,000.
