A Massachusetts State Lottery player closed out 2024 with a bang by claiming a multi-million dollar prize.

By Charlie McKenna | cmckenna@masslive.comThe year 2024 ended with a bang for one Massachusetts State Lottery player as they claimed the $4 million top prize in the lottery’s “$4,000,000 Bonus Money” scratch ticket game.The winning ticket was sold at a Richdale Food Shop in Hingham. “$4,000,000 Bonus Money” costs $10 to play and the odds of winning the $4 million prize are 1 in 5.376 million. The ticket was the first top prize winner in the game, and two $4 million prizes remain. Seven tickets worth $1 million — the game’s second-largest prize — are still available. The game debuted in September 2024.Additionally, a player claimed the final $1 million prize remaining in the lottery’s “Gold Mine 50x” game. That ticket was sold at a Market Basket in Wilmington. Overall, at least 662 prizes worth $600 or more were won or claimed in Massachusetts on Tuesday, including 13 in Springfield, 33 in Worcester and 47 in Boston.The Massachusetts State Lottery releases a full list of winning tickets every day. The list only includes winning tickets worth more than $600.So far, the largest lottery prize won in Massachusetts this year was worth $1 million a year for life.The prize was from the lottery’s “Lifetime Millions” scratch ticket game.
