DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - A Davenport man nearly threw away his winning lottery ticket.According to the Iowa Lottery, Jordan Miller, 31, bought a winning Mega Millions ticket on Dec. 24, the night of the $1 billion drawing, at Smokin' Joe’s in Davenport.When Miller woke up and saw that no one had won the prize, lottery officials said he left the ticket on the fridge and didn’t think about it again until a couple weeks later.“I was getting ready to go do errands when I saw it sitting there. I was going to throw it away because I thought it was junk,” Miller said. “I remembered I had the lottery app on my phone so I decided to scan it real quick. It popped up and said I won $10,000.”Lottery officials said Miller plans to use some of the winnings for travel with his wife.“Always check your ticket,” Miller said.Copyright 2025 KWQC.
