Here are five affordable housing lotteries for units on Cape Cod with deadlines to apply set in 2025.
New affordable housing units across Cape Cod are expected to be available in the new year.Lotteries are currently open for developments in Hyannis and Bourne, with hundreds of applicants vying for a place. Deadlines to apply are just days away.Additionally, lotteries for projects likely to finish in 2025, such as Pennrose's redevelopment of a former bank headquarters in Orleans, are anticipated to begin accepting applications later this new year.Here’s what units are or will be up for grabs and how to apply.50 Yarmouth Road, HyannisApplications for two one-bedroom rentals in the new Linnell Landing development in Hyannis by CCR Holdings LLC are due by Friday, Jan. 3.One rental is set aside for households with an income of 65% of the area median income and the other is for 100% area median income households.Developers took an existing building that dated back to 1870 to create eight one-bedroom and four two-bedroom units in duplex-style buildings. The project will feature a total of eight affordable units at varying maximum income limits.Rents are from $1,348 to $1,870. At least 86 people have already applied to this housing lottery, according to Housing Assistance Corporation.More information about this lottery is available on the Housing Assistance Corporation’s website.Cape View Way in BourneApplications for an apartment at the new Cape View Way development in Bourne are due at 5 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 27. The project is a partnership between Preservation of Affordable Housing and Housing Assistance Corporation and features 42 new affordable units in one three-story building on the north side of the Cape Cod Canal in the Sagamore Beach village of Bourne.At least 300 people have already applied for this lottery, according to Housing Assistance Corporation.Four rental homes will be accessible – three fully accessible and one accessible to sensory-impaired residents. Amenities include a community room, mail room, library, outdoor entertainment area, and basement storage.The lottery offers affordable rental units for households earning less than 60% and 30% of the area median income. All units designated for households at 30% AMI have project-based vouchers, which allow households to only pay 30% of their income, according to Housing Assistance Corporation.More information is available at Housing Assistance’s website.Sandwich: New housing at former Wing SchoolA housing lottery for affordable units in a new development at the former Henry T. Wing School off Rte. 130 in Sandwich is expected to open sometime next year.The development is named Commons at Wing. Plans call for 128 age-restricted apartments on the 31-acre campus with 80% of them affordable.Ketih McDonald, vice president of SCG Development, previously told the Times developers expect to begin advertising about the lottery around March 1. The lottery application period is anticipated to be between March 1 and May 1. Developers expect to have the certificate of occupancy in September.If anyone is interested in getting on the list for housing, they are advised to contact HallKeen Management at 781-915-3055.Two projects in OrleansThere’s no deadline yet for these two Orleans housing developments, but lotteries for both are expected to be open for applications around spring and summer, according to Assistant Director of Planning and Community Development Elizabeth Jenkins.The first project is Pennrose's renovation of the former Cape Cod 5 headquarters building on West Road, which is expected to be completed next year. The 62-unit development will include nine units at 30% AMI, 43 units at 60%, and 10 units at 80%.More information on this project is available on the town website and the Pennose website.Secondly, Housing Assistance Corporation is developing the 1.25-acre property at 107 Main St. into 14 affordable rental units on town-owned land.
