Two winning tickets — one of them worth more than $110,000 — were sold recently at the convenience store chain in Vicksburg. A Vicksburg man won $110,920 on a Match 5 ticket for the Dec. 31 drawing, and a woman turned a $1 ticket into a $5,000 jackpot in the Cash 4 game, the Mississippi Lottery announced. The Mississippi Lottery does not identify winners by name. In the Match 5 game, players select five numbers from 1 to 35. Prizes are awarded for as few as two correct numbers, and the jackpot goes to players who match all five — which the Vicksburg winner did. The winning combination for the Dec. 31 drawing was 7-10-12-21-29. The winner also purchased the multiplier bonus option, which tripled his prize. He was the only person in the Dec. 31 drawing to match all five numbers. The Cash 4 winner bought her winning ticket at Suds N Smokes for the Jan. 6 drawing and matched all four numbers to claim the $5,000 top prize. The winning four-number combination of 0-2-1-3 was played as an exact match, which led to the jackpot. The Cash 4 game allows players to pick four numbers in any order or an exact order, with an exact match paying the maximum $5,000 prize. The cost of a ticket is $1. The Vicksburg winner was one of only two players to match all four numbers for the Jan. 6 drawing. Other recent Mississippi Lottery winners around the Vicksburg area include: • A Louisiana woman won $2,500 on a $5 scratch-off ticket sold at Food Maxx Dba Port Mart on North Washington Street in Vicksburg. • A Rolling Fork man on $1,000 on a $20 scratch-off ticket from Rick’s Express No. 3 in Rolling Fork. • A Port Gibson woman won a total of $2,700 on two tickets in the Cash 4 game for drawings in December. The tickets were purchased from Nick’s One Stop in Port Gibson. • Another Port Gibson woman won $2,700 on a Cash 4 ticket in the Dec. 12 drawing. It was also purchased from Nick’s One Stop in Port Gibson. Ernest Bowker is The Vicksburg Post's sports editor.
