The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, came to Kentucky Lottery headquarters on Dec. 23 to claim his prize after purchasing the $1 million winning Casino Nights scratch-off ticket. The man purchased the $20 ticket the night before at Alexandria Carryout after winning on another scratch-off. The man said he took the ticket to a vending machine to scan it. The vending machine revealed $700,000, but he said he scanned it three more times to be sure. “I thought, well, how many zeros does it have?” The man, in disbelief, called for the store clerk. “I said, “Can you come over and look at this?” The Campbell County man said he called his mom and daughter, who both didn’t believe him initially. “My daughter had a million questions,” he said. He chose the lump sum cash payment of $700,000 and left lottery headquarters with a check for $504,000 after taxes. The man told lottery officials that besides giving money to his kids and buying a condo for his mom, he has no plans right now for himself. Alexandria Carryout will receive $7,000 for selling the winning ticket. Do you have a news tip to share? Send it to news@linknky.com.
